Got myself a new bike!
The new 4130 features larger tires perfect for every adventure. A bike that can handle poorly maintained city roads, gravel paths, or even light trails. This bike is extremely durable, versatile, and riders can enjoy the simplicity of a single-speed - known for being extremely reliable and easy to maintain. The new State 4130 bicycle is an encouraging, and exhilarating, in-betweener for cyclists living in cities. It's a single speed from State Bicycle that I've been eyeing for a few months.
Had a couple of other options (https://shop.fairdalebikes.com/collections/fairdale-lookfar/products/2023-fairdale-lookfar-gloss-surf-blue-in-xs-l, https://www.cannondale.com/en-us/bikes/active/fitness/adventure/adventure-eq, https://surlybikes.com/bikes/preamble), but the combination of simplicity, price, and novelty of the drop bars and single speed made it for me. I'll probably explore something else in the future; I still want an ebike to zip through Houston with anyway π.
I'm starting out minimalist with what I'm attaching to it, just my previous bike's lock and next I'll get lights and a phone mount on it. I'll end up attaching a rear and front bike rack on it eventually as well, so I can grab groceries and whatnot!
Just remembered to register it on https://bikeindex.org/, to give me data to report if it ever gets stolen π«‘.
Current maintenance to do:
- [x] Tighten the seat in the right position
- [x] Make sure my brakes are aligned after a little bit of riding
- [ ] Investigate a dynamo headlight
- [x] Get a new phone mount for it (Had a https://loop.cc/en-us that I've enjoyed, but it doesn't fit the handlebars) (Turns out it does fit, I just needed a smaller rubber spacer on it and to try harder.)
